I am an art director with more than 13 years of experience in freelance and in-house graphic design, as well as nearly a decade of communications and media-relations experience. These two sets of skills allow me to offer clients and employers an integrated approach to design that incorporates a coherent and consistent message.
Here’s what one coworker at Amazon recently said about me: “Adam‘s design output is unmatched by any other designer I know. His predisposition for all things efficient shows in his workflow, methodology, toolkit, and delivery; Adam may or may not be an actual machine.” While I can assure you that I am 100% human, I take great pride in my ability to handle a lot of work, very quickly, without sacrificing quality. Part of it is the speed at which my design brain works, part of it is muscle memory that comes with a decade and a half of experience, and part of it is the time I spend creating process improvements to shave minutes – or even seconds – off my workflow.
Those who have worked with me in the past have said – both in person and in anonymous annual reviews – that they respect my ability to offer guidance, direction, and expertise, while at the same time being genuinely open to input and collaboration.
Cliché or not, the fact is that design is my passion, and I’m grateful every day that I get to do it for a living. I have a keen eye for composition, layout, and typography in particular. And I bring to my work a laser focus on customer experience. After all, good design that doesn’t meet the needs of the customer ISN’T good design.
Over the last decade and a half, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a dizzyingly wide variety of projects and companies. I’ve worked for non-profits and for companies at the very top of the Fortune 100 list. I’ve had 4 a.m. call times as a production designer in Hollywood, and I’ve eaten cold pizza past midnight with coworkers at a startup. I’ve worked on product launch presentations for senior VPs, art directed photo shoots for global marketing campaigns, and designed toys for my favorite sci-fi shows.
